Last week, Oscar Meyer (yes, the company that brought us Lunchables) announced a new product –the bacon-themed alarm clock, complete with sounds and smells. Yes, smells.
As if the fascination and obsession with bacon hasn’t been entirely overwhelming in the past year (yes, I too am guilty), Oscar Meyer – inventor of the Olive Loaf – has revolutionized the way us meat-lovers wake up in the mornings: by the sounds and smells of bacon sizzling in a skillet.
To get the full effect (meaning, the smell of bacon) the dongle (attachment) is sold separately and can be plugged into your phone, so that when your alarm starts to sizzle, not only will you be awakened with the sound of bacon cooking, but with also the smell.
Love the idea but not looking to spend unnecessary money on the olfactory attachment? Oscar Meyer is currently running a contest, where 4,700 people can win this normally priced 40$ dongle by entering here. Be sure to enter soon – the contest officially ends April 4th.
Was this really a need by the human population? Not really. Is it interesting and exciting? Sure. The only thing better than being woken up to the sound and smell of bacon, is to be woken up to the taste. And if Oscar Meyer can somehow conceive that, well, I know I will always look forward to waking up early in the morning.
Although, I may hit the snooze a few times.
