Google My Business (GMB) is an excellent tool for promoting your law firm locally. When someone searches on Google for local businesses, your business name is the primary ranking factor used. As tempting as it may be to add keywords to your actual business name, this practice is against Google’s guidelines. Violating Google’s guidelines can result in your GMB listing being suspended.
One option is to change your business name. A business with keywords as part of their name will always rank high on GMB due to their algorithms. Short of changing your name, there are some other things you can do to help you rank higher.
One of the best ways to rank higher is by getting client reviews. Set a goal of getting at least 2 client reviews every week. Assign someone to reply to your Google reviews and to use keywords in your reply. For example, if you are a DUI attorney and a client provides a google review saying that you saved them money and won their case for them, make sure you respond to their review. Respond by using a specific keyword like “Thank you for trusting us with your DUI case! We know you have several DUI attorneys to choose from, we value your trust!.”
Another way to rank higher is to use keywords and keyword phrases in your business description area and to choose multiple “categories” for your business description. Also post multiple photos and make sure to tag them using keywords. Also make sure to complete the FAQ section completely.
Making regular posts to your GMB will also help you in the rankings. Make sure your posts are relevant to your business and use keyword phrases and pictures as much as possible. Always write posts and descriptions that flow naturally.
