“I worked in marketing for about 5 years and then moved into web development for a few years. From there, I worked at an agency where I learned search engine optimization for dentists, and I did this for about 4 years. I then moved into doing contract work, managing site migrations. Prior to coming to Market My Market, I worked at an agency for e-commerce sites and then at an agency doing SEO for lawyers.”

What Made You Want to Pursue SEO as a Career?

“I initially applied for an account manager role at an old job, but due to my web development experience, the company wanted me to try out SEO. Through that role, I was trained on search engine optimization and became very interested in it, and enjoyed learning and practicing SEO in and out of work.”

What Do You Feel Has Changed About SEO in the Last Year?

“Definitely Artificial Intelligence. AI and AI overviews with Google have had a lot of updates on how they index AI content and use it in the AI overviews; there have been many shifts.”

Where Do You See the SEO Industry Going in the Next Five Years?

“Whoever can use AI to help with SEO will be who can be the most efficient. AI cannot do SEO itself, but it can help with the tasks associated. So, whoever can harness AI the best will see the most success as a business.”

Why Did You Apply to Market My Market?

“Some agencies are stuck in their ways, but with MMM, it is innovative and looking to be on the cutting edge of SEO and technology. I was really interested in that and liked that the company is always looking to be better and make things more efficient.”

What Are Your Goals for the Future of Your Career Here at MMM?

“I will continue trying to come up with new processes and ways to improve our strategies, putting together the blueprint SEO strategy, adding more AI to the blueprint, and incorporating AI into our everyday processes.”

What Are Some of Your Interests Outside of Work?

“I genuinely love practicing SEO outside of work and am always reading articles about updates in the industry. I enjoy using my own websites to test new strategies I see in SEO news. I have enjoyed working with AI since 2019. I also like to work out, go on hiking trails, go fishing, and play PlayStation.”

What Advice Do You Have for Other Professionals Looking to Accomplish What You Have in Your Career Thus Far?

“Always learn! I am an expert, but SEO changes every day, so I always want to learn more. Test your own strategies, have your own sites to test those strategies, and improve your knowledge and grasp of SEO to see what works and doesn’t.”
