Q&A with Kelly

What is a typical “day in the life” in your role?

“With content strategy, one of the first things that I do when I start my day is check on my clients. I check whether or not my content plans have been approved or for any edits on a content plan that I’ve done. Now, I also assign content out to writers and assign it to account managers to wrap things up. So every day, I hop on and prioritize what needs to be done first. Once those tasks are done, I can move on to write what I need to for my content load that day.”

What do you love most about your job?

“I really like content planning. I’ve always liked doing research–which I know is a weird thing. So I like researching and figuring out the best topics for clients. Getting to learn SEO has also been really fun and I definitely enjoy that aspect.”

What is your favorite project you’ve worked on at MMM?

“I think the client packets and getting to watch those evolve. Having a place to go with all of the relevant information on a client was something I really needed when I started. Before the packets, I had to seek out the information I needed from the content lead, the other writers, or the account managers. Having a place for this information, creating it, and knowing it’s a good tool for writers has been really satisfying.”

What motivates you for work every day?

“I think it all goes back to me being a learner. I like learning things, so having a wide range of legal and non-legal clients is fun. I would never have learned some of the things I have learned if it wasn’t for this job. I’ve learned insurance stuff, dental stuff–the list goes on. I’ve always been a learner. That’s also why I love to read and decided to go to art school.”

What do you love to do in your free time?

“I’m a big reader, but I also love crafts. I knit, crochet, and have a billion other hobbies. I like doing things with my hands and keeping them busy. I also love TV shows and other media. So usually I’m knitting, crocheting, coloring, or drawing while watching some of my favorite shows. My favorite at the moment is All of Us Are Dead, which is a Korean show about a zombie outbreak in a high school.”

Describe your perfect Saturday

It would definitely be getting up late. Not too late though, because I’m big on brunch. I’d enjoy going to a cafe or somewhere nice to either read, work on my personal writing projects, or just chill out.”

What is something most people don’t know about you?

“I’m a very opinionated and vocal person. I guess what most people don’t know at this point in my life is that I used to be extremely shy. I really used to be the shy mouse or the fly on the wall. It’s difficult for people to believe now that I’m so vocal and assertive.
