Employee Spotlight: Kimberly Osborn — From the Classroom to Content Creation

image 26 - Market My MarketKimberly Osborn, one of our favorite content writers, has built a career that spans from teaching kindergarten to creating impactful digital content at Market My Market. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Florida and a master’s in Curriculum and Instruction Design from St. Vincent College, Kimberly spent two years teaching before moving into contract work. Eventually, her drive for a new challenge led her to content writing, and she’s embraced the growth, patience, and communication skills that carried over from her teaching days. Over her first year at MMM, Kimberly has navigated the rewarding challenges of learning an entirely new process, adapting to the fast-evolving role of AI, and finding her voice as a writer.

Outside of work, Kimberly keeps just as busy, from walking her dog on the beach to staying active with CrossFit and yoga. She holds multiple certifications, including personal training, Pure Barre, and group fitness, and credits the discipline and confidence she gained from those experiences with helping her thrive as a writer and content strategist. Awarded by her teammates as the “most caffeinated,” Kimberly is always energized and ready to take on new challenges.

Can You Share a Bit About Your Background?

I went to the University of Florida, and I got my degree there in Psychology. Then, I ended up going to a small, private school for my Master’s degree called St. Vincent College. A little fun fact: the Steelers do their training camp there! I got my Master’s degree there in Curriculum and Instruction Design.

So, I have an education background and taught kindergarten for two years. After that, I did a lot of contract work, curriculum development, educational tools and guides, and lesson planning.

I was looking for something different, so I took my writing background, applied for the content writer listing here, and the rest is history!

image 27 - Market My MarketHas Anything from Your Teaching Experience Translated into Your Current Role at MMM?

On the strategy track, I do client onboarding, and especially with teaching kindergarten, that bubbly personality can come out! I’m also able to make sure every detail is taken care of.

What Have Been the Most Rewarding and Challenging Aspects of Your First Year as a Content Writer?

I’ve definitely learned a lot. I came in with no marketing experience. I had writing experience in curriculum design, but I hadn’t done any type of media writing, so seeing how much I’ve grown and worked has definitely been the most rewarding, but it’s also been the most challenging. I’ve had to get comfortable asking questions and learning from everybody. We’re lucky to be on a team that’s willing to teach and talk things out.

Is There Anything That Surprised You About Your Role at MMM?

AI and how much we use it now! I didn’t have a lot of experience with it, so seeing what AI is capable of and how we apply it has been very eye-opening.

What Are Your Goals for the Future of Your Career?image 28 - Market My Market

I would like to move into a leadership role, maybe on the digital media track, because I’ve been pretty hands-on with that. I see the digital track as anything that’s not blogs and pages, like long-form content, guidebooks, our video series, educational videos, animated videos, infographics, and beyond.

What Do You Like to Do When You’re Not Working?

I live in a small beach town, so I’m at the beach all the time walking my Border Collie! I’m always outdoors. I’m a big CrossFitter; it’s a big part of my life. I have a Level 2 teaching certification and a ton of other certifications: yoga, Pure Barre, group fitness, personal training, and others.

What’s the Best Advice You’ve Received in Your Role, and What Advice Would You Give Someone Who Wants to Pursue Content Writing and Strategy?

The best piece of advice I received that I would also pass along is if you don’t know something, just ask. It’s perfectly fine to say, “I don’t know the answer, but I will get help to find it.” Clients, especially, are much happier this way because they can trust that you’re being honest with them. My dad also taught me to never stop learning, no matter what. Always find something new to learn, and it can always be applied to what you’re doing.
