Instagram users, you can now share private photos and videos with friends and followers through Instagram Direct. This new this feature allows for you to share only with those whom you want. It’s a simple concept that has a Snapchat feel.
How it works:
Now, when you go to post a picture there is a new tab on the top right corner. You have the option to press Followers or Direct.
For Direct, your video message will be sent only to specific friends that you choose. A check mark will have appear and indicted if they’ve viewed the message. Direct messages allow for you to send messages up to 15 people. So you and your friends can have a fun exchanging direct video or picture messages.
Be forewarned, Instagramers who you don’t know can also send you Direct Instagrams. Their message though will show up as pending, you have the option to view them or not.
As more social media users appreciate privacy settings the move towards more personalized messages makes sense. Previous Instagram privacy settings were limited, you could either block users or set your account to private which meant that you had to accept followers who you wanted to follow. Now you have the option “to capture and share the world’s moment,” with whom ever you want at your own discretion.
